Highly Specialist Music Therapist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Therapy Team.
This role will be to provide a high quality, evidence based speech and language therapy services, which promotes participation, speech, language and communication needs of children and young people.

Role Requirements
- Lead the provision of high quality, evidence-based music therapy provision for children and young people attending The Children’s Trust School in partnership with other members of the multidisciplinary team and education services.
- Provide high quality, evidence based and equitable music therapy interventions for children and young people attending The Children’s Trust School.
- Undertake specialist music therapy assessments of children with highly complex needs e.g. multiple co-morbidities and neurodisabilities through standardised and non-standardised assessments and clinical observations.
- Work therapeutically with children and young people who have complex needs and may present with mental health needs, and behaviours that may challenge.
- Develop therapy goals, in collaboration with the child and family/carers, as well as the multidisciplinary and education teams, other health professionals and agencies, to facilitate the participation of the child in their life skills.
- Facilitates effective communication with families and members of the multidisciplinary team. Recognises and reduces barriers to communication as appropriate.
- Maintains clear and concise documents and records, in accordance with The Children’s Trust Policy. Ensures documents are managed confidentially at all times.
- Use a range of advanced communication skills, to share specialised information and discussions with a range of audiences, with different levels of knowledge and expertise.
- Teach and integrate music therapy techniques and practice, through training to the wider team and proactive involvement in class and on residential houses.
- Contribute to child related reports and assist with the collation of these as required, in a timely manner in line with organisational targets.
- Take on coordinating therapist role for small number of young people and represent therapy at annual review and other statutory meetings.

Rehabilitation of Offenders
Many roles at The Children’s Trust are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020) and as such, are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will disclose all unspent convictions and adult cautions and any spent convictions or adult cautions that would not be protected.
