Salary: £111,120 - £127,006 per annum, (dependent on experience and inclusive of London weighting)

The Children’s Trust (‘TCT’) exists to support children and their families with acquired brain injuries and neurodisabilities. We are a complex organisation that constantly thrives to deliver the best outcomes for the children we serve.

As the Director of Nursing and Quality, you will report to the Chief Executive. Your role is a member of the senior leadership team, to help shape and implement the strategic direction of TCT, and to positively lead your workforce to deliver outstanding standards of care for children and young people with brain injury and neurodisability.

The Director of Nursing and Quality will ensure that the children, young people, and their families thrive and that their participation and contributions are sought effectively. The voice of families and children and young people (patient experience) sit within the portfolio of the Director of Nursing and ensuring this is integral to organisational governance and decision making is a critical part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for TCT, the children, young people, and
  • Work collaboratively with all Directors, and especially with the Medical Director, Director of Therapies and Education, to develop a culture which embeds and integrates all aspects of clinical, quality, educational, governance and risk management.
  • Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with regulators, commissioners, safeguarding bodies and the wider health and care system.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the CNO team led by the NHS England CNO, providing vital insight into the professional bodies, national strategic direction and innovation and growth within nursing and care as well as across allied health professions.
  • Assume executive responsibility for safeguarding infection prevention and control, controlled drugs management, freedom to speak up, whistleblowing and medical records management within the organisation and will develop strong executive partnerships locally.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

Rehabilitation of Offenders

Many roles at The Children’s Trust are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020) and as such, are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will disclose all unspent convictions and adult cautions and any spent convictions or adult cautions that would not be protected. The exceptions to this are our retail roles within The Children’s Trust shops, which are subject to Basic DBS checks which will disclose unspent convictions or adult cautions.
