The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with a brain injury, is preparing to launch a new and exciting service across Birmingham and Solihull. The community-based service will provide neurorehabilitation to children and young people (0-18) with a new or existing acquired brain injury (ABI) living in the Birmingham and Solihull region. It will work alongside services that already exist to help children and young people to achieve their goals and aspirations. This service is the 1st of its kind for The Children’s Trust making it a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join a newly founded multi-professional team. The team will include a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and rehabilitation assistant.
The team will strive to:
Educate families and other professionals to raise awareness of the needs of children and young people following an acquired brain injury; be it a mild concussion to a severe injury requiring admission to hospital.
Empower families and other professionals working with the child and young person to deliver goal-focused care- optimising outcomes and embedding rehabilitation into their daily lives and routines.
Continually evaluate the service with the aim of demonstrating its impact and proactively making changes to delivery in response to feedback.
As an employer, The Children’s Trust recognises the traditional working hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday can be detrimental to staff wanting to achieve a healthy life/work balance and make accessing the service for some families incredibly difficult.
